Something I put together during a CocoRosie binge. It crystallizes my ideas of new cult items and it will hopefully help me stay away from boring items this season.
It seems I’m dropping layers in favor of folds, pleats and lacing. About time, since I’d been at layering for two years. I was more than sick of the bulk it involved – and the endless despair over texture, length balance, amount of irony and contrast, and of random people comparing me to the lookbook.nu crowd. Not that there’s anything wrong with them, it’s just not my aesthetic. In fantasy land, I’d wear nothing but Malene Birger and Ann Demeulemeester for the next three months.
I love Yigal Azrouël’s layered tops. I don’t feel much for jewelry this spring, there were too many scarves to wear lately. No, I want paper-thin layered tops and heavy trousers or skirts. Bare neck, loose sleeves or none, and any embellishments from the cut itself, nothing added. I suppose it’s a bit like having my head in the clouds and my feet firmly on the ground.
Recent Parsons grad Samantha Liistro’s first lineup consists of 11 body-conscious looks that are simply to die for. Case in point:
And yes, that IS python.
Unfortunately, it’s not stocked anywhere yet, so we must keep our eyes open in the following months.
As I received many emails asking about stockists for Calla Haynes, I did a bit of looking around and came up with this list:
7 rue Rouget de l’Isle
298 Mulberry Street
New York, New York
The St. Regis Room
176 Yonge Street
You would say: It is horrible to be so happy
Sprawled in a bed all marzipan all Hong Kong
Zealous in the opposite of Zen containment.
See, I long for everything even when you tell me
Every thing dies. Every thing is. And you young lady
Need to learn how to sit still and just be.
No way mister. I will be sticky and wet.
I will touch every precious object –
Leave sweet fingerprints of purpose in well lit places.
